Arsenal news: Ian Wright hits back at fans abusing him for praising rivals Tottenham after beating Borussia Dortmund
Arsenal legend Ian Wright was forced to remove a tweet praising Tottenham’s Champions League performance after receiving vile online abuse.Goals from Heung-Min Son, Jan Vertonghen and substitute Fernando Llorente gave Spurs a 3-0 first-leg advantage over Borussia Dortmund in their last 16 encounter.Jan Vertonghen and Heung-min Son combined brilliantly against Borussia Dortmund1

The win was all the more impressive considering they are without key players Harry Kane and Dele Alli.Wednesday’s Wembley display rightly earned Spurs a number of plaudits, with Gary Lineker and Harry Redknapp hailing Mauricio Pochettino’s side and to the annoyance of some, former Gunners forward Wright.Taking to social media, his tweet simply read: ‘Spurs’ along with a GIFof Leonardo DiCaprio from the movie Wolf of Wall Street, clapping to show his respect.Wright then took down the post due to abusive replies, before defiantly responding with a new tweet. It read: “Took down the Spurs tweet last night becos it lacked context! Thought they were brilliant without key players. 3-0 is a great result! That said, some of the vile abuse I received doubting my love for Arsenal because I applauded a very good Spurs performance is crazy. More love.”It is not the first time Wright has been thrilled watching Spurs. Back in December, following their 6-2 win at Everton, he tweeted:“Tottenham frighten me,” with an astonished face emoji.
