The Uruguay international looked set to swap Spain for east London throughout the January transfer window with West Ham attempting to agree a deal for Gomez.However, the transfer was not completed before the deadline and West Ham hoped to revisit the deal at the end of the season.They face competition from their two Premier League rivals now, though, with The Sun claiming Chelsea and West Ham are interested in the 35million ace. The Blues hoped to find the long-term solution to their goal scoring woes with Gonzalo Higuain currently on loan at Stamford Bridge, while Liverpool were recommended Gomez, 22, by their former superstar Luis Suarez.Suarez is an international team-mate of Gomez’s, and is alleged to have told those at Anfield he is the ‘real deal’.Gomez has played nine times for his country without scoring, and he was part of their squad that reached the quarter-finals at last summer’s World Cup.
