Jose Mourinho to blame for Paul Pogba’s Manchester United struggles, France midfielder’s brother claims
Paul Pobga’s brother has claimed Jose Mourinho is the reason behind the midfielder’s struggles at Manchester United.Pogba, who was a key player when France won the World Cup last summer, never truly fulfilled his potential under the now sacked Mourinho.However, he has come to life under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United’s caretaker manager, scoring four goals and creating a further three in just four Premier League matches.2

And Pogba’s brother, Mathias, claims Mourinho was the problem at Old Trafford.“It was Mourinho who was the problem,” Mathias, who plays for Tours, told RMC Sport.“Mourinho still wants to be the centre of attention. The problem was Mourinho, right down the line. “In the locker room, outside the locker room…everything, I know my brother, and you tell him, ‘Go. Go play ‘, the rest, he will do it.“From what we see of Mourinho, he always wants to be the maestro, the centre of attention“(Paul) does not even calculate that aspect: you respect him, he will respect you, you trust him, he will produce big performances.”2

In the run up to Mourinho’s dismissal – which was confirmed last month – he clashed with Pogba on various occasions.A training ground bust-up led to the Portuguese calling for Pogba to ‘get out’, while the now out of work manager also reportedly branded Pogba a ‘virus’ in a scathing dressing room attack on the midfielder.

Pogba allegedly responded to Mourinho’s sacking by shouting ‘he f***ed with the wrong baller’ at United’s training ground, before being pulled aside by Michael Carrick – the club’s former midfielder and current coach – and reminded that nobody is bigger than the club.The 25-year-old missed the Red Devils’ most recent match – a 2-0 defeat of Reading the FA Cup third round – through injury, and he travelled to Dubai for a warm weather training camp on Monday – a few days later than his team-mates.However, Solskjaer appears confident Pogba will be fit for the visit to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, saying: “Hopefully, we can get Paul on his feet during this week.”
